Happy Halloween

Last night the boys hosted their first ever Spooky Party. I was so excited to see the kids dressed up in their spooky costumes. Everyone really got into it and all the kids looked so awesome in their scary best that it made me really glad that we decided against a costume competition.

We had skeletons (even though there was some persistent last minute superman negotiating from Mr 3).....

...a pair of death ghouls stopped by (one slightly camera shy ghoul)....
................some camera shy witches were also here....

.......a rocking pirate girl popped in......

..........and making me green with envy a scaaaaarrrry ghost......

Amongst the required chips and lollies we snuck in some homemade treats.
Spider Jelly (made with real spiders of course ;))

Monster cupcakes (expertly decorated by Mr 3. Hiding under the monsters were Martha's Choc-Malt Cupcakes....moist and delicious)

Halloween Cupcakes (expertly sprinkled over Martha's Carrot Cupcakes by a proud Mr 3. These were the best carrot cakes I think I have ever tasted.)

.............. and Chang's Choc Spiders (this mamas fave ;))

Of course it wouldn't be a party without games. I was so excited to see that the kids were ready to step the games up a level away from the usual pass the parcel.
We ate donuts from a string - a huge hit!!

Wrapped up mummies.....

and bobbed for apple heads. Thanx Martha.

We wrapped up the party with our spooky bags (notice that I got to use my brand new pinking shears here YAY!!).

Wishing you all a super spooky Halloween!!

Halloween here we come....

Over the past week or so we have slowly been gearing up for All Hallows Eve.

We've let the ghosts float down from the rafters.

Some old friends have stopped by to hang out with us.

We have even sent out the invites for our first ever Halloween Party.

The Halloween excitement level amongst the boys is pretty high....even the littlest man of the house has mastered his scary ghoooooooooooost noise!! So cute.

What are your plans for this spooky day??

Quick Craft

We have been forced inside with the wet wet WET weather this week. Even though the rain has given the kids a serious dose of cabin fever it has been the perfect time to get some Halloween crafting and decorating done.

Luckily I have a front room that would easily qualify for an episode of hoarders. After a few minutes burrowing around I managed to unearth a huge stash of tissue paper stash (thanx internet retailers for all of your delicate wrapping of my treasures).

We quickly got to work turning the tissue paper into some spooky ghosts. This is a super quick and easy craft perfect for toddlers.

First you grab a chunk of tissue paper and scrunch it into a ball.

Then you grab another piece of tissue paper and wrap it around the ball turning it into a ghostly figure. (this was the part of the craft that I heard myself uttering...... "I need your balls" ohhhh my!!??!!

Tie a "neck" with a piece of scrap yarn or ribbon leaving enough length to hang your ghost with. Then decorate with a spooky face we used textas but you could use stickers or paint whatever works for your crafters.

My 3 y/o loves to scrunch the ghosts heads and make the spooky face.

If it wasn't raining so much we would be hanging these in the trees as well *sigh*.

I would love to hear about your spooky craft ideas.

Hooked

I am totally hooked on the Recyclart blog.... so much inspiration in such a tiny portal.
I am really loving the crate men that I first spied here and now I am seeing them everywhere.... hilarous.
Have you seen any Crate Men in your area??

Four

With the warmer spring weather creeping up on us things are finally starting to happen in our Spring Patch.

Our four tubs of spuds (each holding four buried tubers) have been growing like crazy.
they seem to grow quicker than we can cover them!!

Unlike the spuds the rest of the patch has taken the cold weather to heart and continues to plod along.....

Amongst the slow but steady growth we have found tomatoes, peas, beets, watermelon, spinach and marigolds.

Strangely though the warmer weather has seen a bit of a rejuvenation in the winter patch......

The broad beans are re-flowering and the cauliflowers are quickly becoming the big stars of the patch!!

Sadly the weather change has also bought a sly green-munching ????

I would love to hear any tips you have for preventing this devastation......

Where was our trusty puppy during this unsolicited attack?? mmmmmmm....

Three

Looking back through my pix it seems that September was the month for three's.

For us turning three means.....
Handmade dress-ups for our beautiful Connie-liscious.....

A special Lightning McQueen inspired birthday crown.....

Playing with your fave cousin in your new birthday shirt (Ottobre 03/09 I really HEART Ottobre).

And of course you have to keep up the family tradition of climbing on the party table and devouring all the birthday boys cake.....

Happy Three Guys!!
