working on non-knitting.....

The Magic of the baby sleep fairies was upon our house yesterday which meant that I managed to make a whole lot of progress on my sewing to do list.......

The cool change that autumn has bought us meant that the first project off the list was some heat bags for my boys...... I made the rice bags first.....

Then a removable cover...... one each..... baby above...toddler below (he has a slight "skulleton" obsession??!!)

add some nice snuggley fabric to the back (courtesy of some thrifted bunny rugs)

of course I had to line them......lol....

Next ...... my ever growing babe was in desperate need of some long pants.....

So I whipped up ohhhhhh .... 5 pairs!!

Lastly the final coat of paint was applied to this thrift shop find....

A special stool for my special helper.....

......needless to say he loves it!!

The sewing bug has definitely bitten me.....stay tuned for more material goodness...

I CAN Sew.....

After months of clickity clacking of my knitting needles.... Easter arrived and with it the need to sew for my boys....
Of course I put it off till the very last moment dreading the time and attention to detail it would need.....

I mean 2 pairs of pj bottoms from scratch with no pattern and 2 tops to applique with no idea what design to use....holy easter bunnies.....
But in the end it was quick and easy and my boys had their easter jammies in time for the easter bunny to hop in and find them....
and the proud mama can quietly report that they loved them!! YAY.

We are Family...

I am awestruck everyday by the creative abilities of others.

Sometimes the most inspiration comes from your own backyard.....

Like some of the women in my family.....

My sister...... jellywares ......

My baby sister...... Pretty in Pink .......

and lastly my SIL......

With all this talent in my day to day life it is hard not to be inspired to make and create. My latest knits (pictured above) are the product of the inspiration these women give me.

Thank you girls you truly rock my world.

We Love to Paint

We love painting so much that we have even started painting in the bath.....

Thanx to Wee Life for the inspiration.

Continuing with knitting fever this beanie came off the needles this morning....

....a birthday surprise for my little sis.....

....ravelry link for the free download here.....

I used 8 ply panda magnum on 4mm needles and I added a repeat of the lower sequence to make sure it covered her ears.....

ooooohhhh and I added a pom-pom because as we all know everything is a little bit cuter with a pom-pom on top!!

Modelled by Wyatt...

Catch Up.....

WARNING
Do not be deceived I am no super mum this is a lazy-raverly-addicted-blogger catch up post!!

In my day to day life I try to raise my boys with a well rounded attitude steering away from gender specific stereo types. So amongst the zillion games of cars, blocks and lizard and bug catching that are favourites on Mr 2's list we incorporate a little of these things.....

Face Painting..... Spiderman just like Jordy thanks mum..... ;)

A little bit of homemade slime....fun to make and a good solid hour of independent play....

An afternoon tea party for two.......

Creating and colouring our own colour pages.......

These would make the cutest gift done up in a book......

A different take on body art.....

Look closely and you can see the eyes and nose amongst the "colour".....

.....of course we had to draw around baby brother......

Learning to recognise an write our name.......

What are your fave things to do with your babes or as a family??
