Progress....

This week my small family has made small progressions out of the cocoon of our nest and back into the world.....
A 2nd birthday party found us enjoying the company of family and friends at the local park. it also meant the mama scored a good half an hour of babe-free-time to make the birthday surprise. This free time didn't include time spent with my "big boy" making the gift card.

I finished off Axel's baby blanket.
This blanket started out as a stash busting exercise that was feverishly knit over my babe's head while he snuggled, fed and bonded with me in his first weeks of life. Now when I look at this blanket I can't help but remember these moments.

A new blanket is a good excuse to get out in the sunshine and spend some time playing on the lawn watching big brother make a river of bubbles over our heads......

Not a day goes by that doesn't see the sling being pulled out and into use. Her is the view from the top after one of evening walks with my boys.....
How is 2009 progressing for you??

The Definition of Insanity....

Repeatedly walking my sleeping babe up the creaky hallway to the bedroom, easing him from the security of his warm sling and placing him gently in his bed and expecting that he will continue to sleep there...... it has to work this time right!! lol. Seriously though this post from Soule Mama really sums up our lives at the moment.... blissfully chaotic.....

Some corners of our home......

A place to for my little minds to read......

and a place for the mama to feed baby...... and sometimes read.

The knitting continues mostly in the wee baby rocking hours of the morning...... I see many finished objects in the very near future until then.....

Another use for the multitudes of kid art we seem to accumulate....... gift cards.

Baby Eye View.

I have spent considerable amounts of time wandering around our home in the past four weeks settling newborn fears and soothing toddler tears. All of this wandering has given me an appreciation for the special spaces we have created within our home, such as this baby eye view....

I bought this mobile from a fair trade shop when Wyatt was a few weeks old. It is made of painted silk and ??bamboo and it hangs above the change table. Both of my babes have been fascinated with the fluttering of these vibrant wings.

I never bothered with a bassinet when Wyatt was a newborn and I really regretted it. This time around I was hell bent on buying one of these hammocks. Since Axel's arrival I have dubbed this the baby whisperer!! It is so easy to use and maneuver I can even settle him without getting out of my bed..... bliss.....

I am still knitting feverishly...... using up my stash at great speeds.

Inspired by the fantastic Soule Mama I finished Axel's kicking bag. This is perfect for those early morning feeds. Even though it is summer the temp is quite cool at 2am!! This pattern is a free link on ravelry.

I knitted this on 4mm needles with ebay wool ??Chinese......

Very quick and easy knit in the the round, minimal seaming....really pleasurable
What are your fave home spaces??

Bitten....

I have been well and truly bitten by the knitting bug.
Very unusual considering the hot outback Australian summer I am in the middle of. I guess it probably has a lot to do with the solitary nature of nursing a newborn babe!! I really can't get enough of fibre and needles!! I think I have just about worn Ravelry out with my continual project voyeurism. LOL!!
I have projects like this stashed all over the house.... the MOTH even found one in bed last night "I think I've ruined something here babe!!".... that'll teach me!!

No finished projects yet but a couple of things on the needles and a more than a few lined up ready to go (more ravelry!!). Happily I am planning my projects around using up my stash on my little handsome's and a secret new project that I sneakily ordered some NEW YARN for....yup NEW!!

Other than knitting there has been much baby gazing going on.
I took some very good advice from a blog friend and turned my camera to macro and black and white......

and..... if I am showing off my boy I have to show you......
Aunty Stephy's fave pose.....

Not to be left out.... my biggest handsome.... proudly showing off "tattoo....same as dad mum!!"

I managed a little sewing for a special Miss 2 birthday.

Happy New Year Everyone and thank you soooo much for your welcome wishes for my babe.
