Frozen not Super.

Towards the end of my pregnancy I made a batch of cupcakes from this fantastic chocolaty website. I made them in mini cases for little fingers but this meant that we ended up literally drowning in cakes. So I froze them in batches of 12 cakes - I thought this was a better option than mass over-consumption of cake (mind you this was given serious consideration....lol).

Fast forward to now ....... with a 15 newborn baby, a 2 year old and a visiting 9 year old (not to mention a hungry chocolate loving man and sleep deprived mama) I can honestly say this was one of the best things I ever did..... add a quick batch of icing and viola ........ super mum....... mind you 12 mini cakes doesn't last very long.

After 16 days with Axel in our lives family life is steadily becoming less chaotic. We have finally got the washing and the washing up caught up. I am learning to prepare lunch and snacks at the earliest opportunity and there has been a whole bunch of these moments of wonderful that make this mama's heart swell...

Newborn fingers grasping toddler pinkies....

A precious little newborn face peeking over dad's shoulder.....

The soothing whispers that only a 2 yo can do for his brother...... "Its OK Axel, Wyatt's here I promise."........ "I love you baby Axel"........ 'sssshhhhhh now baby I help you."

The pride of a new big brother showing off to his cousins..... "That's my baby Axel..... I big brother. Touch him SOFTLY please."

Watching as my precious first born learns how to love and care for his brother...... "I wash his feet mum??", "Hiccup mum I pat??", "I help socks mum??", "Quick mum Axel needs boobies!!"

Then there are those all too precious newborn moments.....

The smell of his soft hair, the tight grasp of his star shaped hands around my finger, the scratch of his little fingers against my ribs during feeding, the sleepy sighing of his breath against my skin while he is riding in his sling and the sweetest newborn imitations of the mama I have ever heard.

(Big brother sharing toys with baby - by hiding them under his pillow....... also check out the most gorgeous handmade baby blanket from aunty...... we love it so much that Wyatt keeps stashing it in secret places for his own use.....lol.)

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas filled with many moments of wonderful.

Craft Hiatus

The first weekend of December came and went with no sign of babies arrival so figured it was time to get a move on with the Christmas cheer. So out came the boxes and.....
Up went the tree.....
including some brand new Dora ornaments.....
and last years handmade......

and finally the apron garland I whipped up last year......

With all this Christmas cheer around we got down to a little kids Christmas crafting including these festive magnets gifted to us in last years stockings......
and these crazy elves......

Obviously I spent heaps of time making sure the heads were the perfect fit....LMAO
Let me tell ya we heart glitter glue big time at the moment!!
As you can see ....... I might be on a slight craft hiatus while this babe wallows inside me but my festive spirit is right in track....... lol
How is your festive spirit coming along??

It's begining to look a lot like.....

Christmas of course.....
I whipped up these advent stockings late last year and they have been a huge hit this year....

They are made out of the only Christmas fabric I could find locally last year and I have visions of making a much cuter version for next year.

I have stuck with the sugar-rush kind of fillings that all kids (big and small) love....choc, lollies etc......

Big plans to put up the tree tomorrow........ while we continue our baby waiting - 5 days overdue!!!
